Thank you! Hope you are also surviving the latest round of sickness, definitely haven't gotten much writing done this week between tending to the kiddo :(
Feel better, Wyatt! And hang in there, Mama! Honestly, at this point, I am in full acceptance of the planetary disturbances, lol. Can't wait for our catch up dinner!
Does setting boundaries count as an unconventional choice? I recently heard a podcast where a therapist defined boundaries as the distance between loving yourself and others. That sooo resonated with me b/c I struggle with trying to do all the things right now, like fly home to see my folks, visit my bro, write more on my Substacks, etc. etc. I just don't have it in me and for once I'm like, well, that's okay. :)
Congrats about your daughter first year in school and of course, making progress on your book!
Thank you! And setting boundaries is definitely unconventional! 👏 Especially if you are known for being helpful or always present. There's a reason the flight attendant says to put on your own oxygen mask first. It's a little less unclear in situations that aren't life-or-death, but it's definitely a moment to reflect whether I genuinely can and want to serve/do, or I want to prevent discomfort in the other person (or myself!).
I haven’t lifted weights in over a month, and I actually miss it - who even am I?! Someone who misses squats apparently. 💪🏽
Happy for you that you have clarity and looking forward to your book someday! (Also added that journal to my wishlist🤩)
Have you read Fair Play? I’m excited to flip thru it with my spouse soon and hoping that it helps me to not feel so overwhelmed and too exhausted for art!
Weightlifting is an addicting habit! But also, massage is probably very physically taxing?! (Excited to hear more about your new adventure!) And yes I have read Fair Play! They may have revised it since the original publication, but "house maintenance" was/is a single card and my husband was like ?! Still recommend it, but definitely alter the tasks after you do the initial sort because inevitably, a category that's not listed or more complex than written will come up.
Sophia - not that you need my or anyone’s permission - but please write your book for all the reasons you mentioned. We need the heart written work more than ever! Because of course they’re not eating the cats and dogs and life can be darn complicated!
I love hearing how you navigate this world.
Writing IS work. And your work is SO important and necessary.
Thank you! Hope you are also surviving the latest round of sickness, definitely haven't gotten much writing done this week between tending to the kiddo :(
We are STRUGGLING here. But I think we are finally coming out of it. I can empathize so much with not getting much done!

“So no, I have no immediate plans to return to work because writing this book is work.” YES yes yes. Louder for those in the back!! 🙌
Always can count on you to be my cheerleader, Maddie! 📢
You just so happen to be very cheerlead-able, Sophia! 🤩

Thank you, Jodie! And absolutely, life is definitely not as black and white as the media would like to make it seem.
Constantly telling myself that writing a book IS work too. Hear hear :)
Also, Claire Saffitz is my go-to for baking recipes. Her apple pie was a big hit at Thanksgiving with my in-laws!
We should just say we have startups in stealth mode 🥷 And I will always take an apple crumb pie over a double crusted one!
