Good luck on the new format! And that smoothie looks absolutely divine. 🤤
When I figure out how to keep a house clean while not squabbling about the division of labor involved, I’ll let you know…but don’t hold your breath. My win this weekend was learning how to use the electric lawn mower my brother lent me (I used to use a push mower). Makes me realize how much upgrading the tools we use improves the experience of the chore.
Same thing happened when I got a better vacuum—turns out I don’t hate vacuuming, I just hated my useless old vacuum 😂
I need to know what vacuum this is! We have a running joke in the house that everything that goes wrong is "Roomba's fault" because 60% of the time, I have to redo parts of the hardwood floor with my Dyson handheld 😖
I finally donated my Roomba because: yes. We have a Dyson stand-up vacuum of some kind—not top of the line by any means, but so much better than the Wirecutter budget vacuum pick (Shark, I think?) I’d had previously, which had become about as effective as the Roomba 😅
Dysons are awesome! I've had my portable for years and had to replace a few parts on it, but it's pretty reliable otherwise. You'd think with all this talk about AI taking over the world, we would get a decent vacuum out of it 😂
Are there other books of hers you'd recommend? I've been reading (and rereading) this one for weeks, and it feels like I discover something new every time I pick it up.
That’s a good way to do it! The other books are all pretty similar. Once you get the concept, you get it. But it’s really helpful to map it out across different books and stories and see how it applies in different ways before you apply it to your own WIP.
As one does with a plotting system! I've only done the character development exercises, but it's probably time to pick up those giant Post-It notepads again for this exercise 🤔
Thanks for sharing. Interested to see how the shorter weekly emails pan out vs longer monthly ones! :)
I may have spoken too soon, because it's daughter's spring break this week and my upcoming post is already over 2,000 words 😂

If the AI revolution can clean my house for me, please sign me up 🙃
That smoothie sounds delish 🥭
Thanks! The tropical fruitiness is a nice reminder that sunny weather will come...eventually...
Martha Alderson is one of my longtime favorites. She is very good at making it all make sense!
