Nice piece; appreciate your honesty and thoughtful reflections. And I identify with your longings (FYI, those used Teslas are looking pretty good for under $25k). I embraced creativity many, many mornings when I sat down to write my book. I'm not writing now and miss it. I've tried writing content for my author's FB page and forthcoming website, but it just feels wrong (either too honest or too tailored to reflect a persona).

I want to start another book and am pondering what to tackle next. I have an audacious idea to write a biography of a filmmaker/author whose work I've followed since the late 1970s and who has affected me (and others) greatly. There's only one bio of himβ€”a Q&A with an editor, published in 1998. He's still writing (at 73), getting big-time reviews; so, presumably, there'd be a market for a bio. But I've never written a book-length bioβ€”only magazine profiles, max 4k words. I can hear you saying "go for it." I'll keep you posted.

Sounds like a cool project, Jim! You are definitely correct in that I would say "Go for it" πŸ˜‚ But to go deeper, I'm curious why you feel drawn to writing about himβ€”do you share a similar life story? Is there a parallel with your work and his? For myself, I often find that that when I'm drawn to something that seems unrelated, there are more connections than what meets the eye.
