Suffering from writer's block? Try an akashic records reading
On limiting beliefs & past lifetimes with Jessica McClain
“Use your voice.”
These were the words my grandmother told me during an upper world exercise facilitated by a women’s circle I joined in a desperate, “My life is a wreck and I have no idea what I’m doing” moment.
Even though my relationship with the supernatural realm has waned since then, I’ve never forgotten the power of those words—using them to guide me in moments I felt stuck at a crossroads. So after months of spinning my wheels, it was a natural next step to ask
to join me on The Write-Life Balance for an akashic records reading. We focused on three questions:What is blocking me from completing my book?
What limiting beliefs do I need to release to move forward?
In the meantime, what gifts and talents can I cultivate to fulfill my soul's purpose?
On Limiting Beliefs & Past Lifetimes with Jessica McClain
WRITE 👩💻 (2:08)
In addition to being a spiritual consultant and the founder of The Conscious Crow, Jessica writes a blog to supplement her own healing journey, actively working to face her shadow of “the fear of being seen.” She also posts regularly on her Facebook group, doing tarot card pulls every Sunday.
LIFE 🏡 (1:50)
With two kids under the age of 5, Jessica jokes she’s a stay-at-home mom by day, and an entrepreneur-on-nights-and-weekends. After the birth of her second child, Jessica felt called to accommodate other busy primary caregivers by taking her business 100% virtual.
I found it interesting that even though Jessica grew up in a household encouraging spirituality; she spent years moving away from it—pursuing a career in animal science research before starting her business after the birth of her firstborn. She calls bullshit on psychics who read palms to predict the future, and encourages debate about the efficacy of her work, pointing out:
"[If it’s] bullshit, at least you gave it a try. We look at the placebo effect of a mother's kiss and children absolutely think it's helpful. Is it magic? Maybe. It comes down to belief and experience and what they get out of it.
BALANCE 🧘♀️ (2:20)
As part of her own inner work, Jessica has recently started creating epoxy resin art. She also visits a healer every six months.
PARTING ADVICE 💭 (44:30)
For busy professionals needing immediate relief from an overactive nervous system, Jessica recommends the following grounding exercises:
Find a rock and concentrate your energy into it.
While bathing or showering, imagine all the yucky energy going down the drain.
Take 3-5 deep breaths, imagining your body filling up with white or yellow light.
